Sunday was INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, (Suffragettes campaigned for women’s right to vote. The word ‘Suffragette’ is derived from the word “suffrage” meaning the right to vote. International Women’s Day honours the work of the Suffragettes, celebrates women’s success, and reminds of inequities still to be redressed. The first International Women’s Day event was run in 1911)
On Monday 9th March staff at the refuge celebrated with a lovely lunch with all of the resident women and children at the refuge.
Part of the fun was Cup Cake decorating and below are some of the results. It was a lovely day!
Cakes Decorated on the day, as you can see from some of the children’s cakes on the top left it was a challenge not eat the decorating before the cakes were finished 🙂
(This was not a fund raising event but just for information)
